Maybe the President needs to stop listening to Nancy and Harry if he wants to get anything done.

Obama reverses Bush abortion-funds policy
Yahoo! News

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama on Friday struck down the Bush administration’s ban on giving federal money to international groups that perform abortions or provide abortion information — an inflammatory policy that has bounced in and out of law for the past quarter-century. Obama’s executive order, the latest in an aggressive first week reversing contentious Bush policies, was warmly welcomed by liberal groups and denounced by abortion rights foes.

But, what can you expect? As David Limbaugh says They’re Poor Winners, Too.
David Limbaugh, via TownHall

If you aren’t convinced of the left’s nonpareil arrogance and nastiness from observing their behavior toward President Bush and Vice President Cheney for the past eight years, then contrast the behavior of Mr. Bush’s staff leaving office and that of Mr. Clinton’s, who literally trashed the White House like juvenile delinquents.

This one deserves a by-line veto:

“You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done,” does not indicate you cannot listen to Limbaugh. What President Obama is saying is that a radio talk show host with questionable sobriety, racist tendencies, ideologies that trump logic and a history of disseminating unattributed (read: false) information should not be the catalyst for one’s thinking. Listen, sure. Consider what he says, sure. Take it as Bible truth? Step out of government and all leadership roles immediately.

I have no defense of the lobbyist in the White House. That is a reversal. Have at it.

On “I won.”: “… according to sources familiar with the conversation.” That’s the attribution. Even though House Minority Leader John Boehner is quoted in the story, the most damaging quote of the story is attributed to “sources familiar with the conversation.” No witness. Didn’t happen. See how yellow journalism works? It presents fiction as fact, surrounds it with rhetoric and it hits a part of your brain, the emotional center, which converts fiction to fact. Not true. President Obama would not resort to such a childish thing.

Reversal of “abortion funds policy.” Read the story closer. The money is for family planning, reproductive health and, yes, does involve abortion education and, in certain cases, abortions for high-risk pregnancies. From the story: “Population Action International, an advocacy group, said that the policy had ‘severely impacted’ women’s health and that the step ‘will help reduce the number of unintended pregnancies, abortions and women dying from high-risk pregnancies because they don’t have access to family planning.'” This will help REDUCE unintended pregnancies (like Bristol Palin), REDUCE abortions and REDUCE women dying from high-risk pregnancies. What’s wrong with that? Because abortions are addressed and, when medically necessary, administered, with a fraction of this money, the whole allocation is about abortion? Come on, you’re better than that. The right wing media is better than that. Maybe not.

The press’ “honeymoon” with President Obama is over? Great. Maybe they can learn to be impartial. The President has pledged transparency. The Fourth Estate’s responsibility is to hold him to it. The 510-campaign promise “Obameter” is a good start. Have at him… and not President Obama will not duck the press. He will answer every question he can. But don’t jump all over him if he refuses to answer a question or two. Remember, we’ve had a vice president running things from a secret location for the past eight years and an acting president who had the fewest press conferences in history – and when he did, he mush-mouthed and mush-brained his way through them. Welcome to adulthood. Get with the program.

One hundred tons of garbage generated by 1.8 million people. That’s nine pounds of garbage per person. I wonder how that compares to other 1.8 million-person gatherings. In comparison, much of the New Year’s Eve celebration included bottles (of champagne or otherwise) which, although heavier, don’t factor into the count. The number means nothing without context. Fail.

And finally, on trashing the White House: In this story, the conclusion was made that White House staffers did indeed trash offices, but, “The report said all these employees were members of the current White House, but did not make clear whether any had also worked in the Clinton White House. The accounting office said similar pranks were reported in prior transitions, including the one from Mr. Bush’s father to Mr. Clinton in 1993. ”We were unable to conclude,” it said, ”whether the 2001 transition was worse than previous ones.” Thing is, the Obama Administration probably won’t come out and complain to the press about what is an obvious ongoing prank between parties. And, considering how much time dubya took off, it is likely the staff was not present at the White House for the final months. It is more likely that power had long-ago transitioned to cheney and his secret underground lair.

    Conclusion:

Once again, add up your anti-Obama blog, all this stuff, double it and double it again and you still have falsehoods, innuendo and not all that much to report. Please Michael, stop it.

As always Tom, it’s your choice to read, or not to read. This post was the mere reporting of news of the week. I didn’t make any of it up. So you can read it, or not.

I’m not going to take the time to go back line by line and tell you why you’re wrong. But I will point out to you that it’s not how much trash a crowd like that can generate. But how much of it they left on the ground. Just a bit (well actually 1.8 million lbs of) hypocrisy from the party who claims they’re the only ones who really care about the environment.

You’re going to either need to stop reading here. Or read more often. When I agree with the Obamas, I’ll say so. Like I did about their decision for Mrs. Robinson to move in to help the daughters with the transition. I also agree with Mrs. Obama’s sentiments about the dolls made to look like her children. She thinks that’s inappropriate, and so do I.

I also spent a good amount of time on another forum last night arguing with a fellow conservative who was overly critical of the President because the music of the string quartet was pre-recorded. I thought, if the President even knew it (doubtful), that it was still a non-issue. This person wanted to make it a “metaphor” for the Administration.

That’s just silly. Like most of the rest of your arguments.

You really should stop jumping to conclusions.

Wow Tom, you’re self righteous indignation is on great display today. Reading you whining comment on the contemporary conservative and that you “..already handled this with Michael over at “Write Side of My Brain.” I thought there would be something of interest written by you over here and that Mike would be quivering in his shoes…not just a great blog doing its thing and your ill thought out liberal phsyco babble that has no basis in reality…The fact that you attempt to eexplain Obama’s words “What President Obama is saying is that a radio talk show host with questionable sobriety, racist tendencies, ideologies that trump logic and a history of disseminating unattributed (read: false) information should not be the catalyst for one’s thinking. ” is hilarious if not sad…there is a difference in working toward the common good of the country through compromise and selling out your core beliefs. Principles should always be tightly held and not thrown out by the empty rhetoric of “bi-partisanship….and I as I suspected you “handled” nothing with Mike, since he actually posts with the right (write) side of his brain.

Michael, keep up the good work, A-1 blog dude!
