porkulus1The REAL Final Tally?  According to The Heritage Foundation:  True Cost of Stimulus: $3.27 Trillion

THREE. POINT. TWO. SEVEN. TRILLION.

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) asked the Congressional Budget Office to estimate the impact of permanently extending the 20 most popular provisions of the stimulus bill. What did the CBO find? As you can see from the table below, the true 10 year cost of the stimulus bill $2.527 trillion in in spending with another $744 billion cost in debt servicing. Total bill for the Generational Theft Act: $3.27 trillion.

No one in their right mind can realistically defend that.

How is this a rounding error?

Congressman Eric Cantor has prepared a chart that shows just how screwed up the White House’s numbers are. The White House attributes the error to a rounding error. That doesn’t quite add up though.

Congressional Offices Don’t Have the Stimulus Bill, Lobbyists Do

We’re receiving E-mails from Capitol Hill staffers expressing frustration that they can’t get a copy of the stimulus bill agreed to last night at a price of $789 billion. What’s more, staffers are complaining about who does have a copy: K Street lobbyists. E-mails one key Democratic staffer: “K Street has the bill, or chunks of it, already, and the congressional offices don’t.

Lawmakers and administration officials divulged Wednesday that the $789 billion economic stimulus bill being finalized behind closed doors in Congress includes $30 million for wetlands restoration that the Obama administration intends to spend in the San Francisco Bay Area to protect, among other things, the endangered salt marsh harvest mouse. [and yes, that’s Nancy Pelosi’s backyard]
