As if the money they wasted on those Census commericals wasn’t annoying enough

If you want to buy some gear to commemorate the 2010 Census, don’t look for the “Made in the U.S.A.” label.

The chairman of the powerful City Council Finance Committee calls it “preposterous” that the U.S. Census Bureau has outsourced the manufacturing of some promotional materials to China, Bangladesh and Haiti.

…Burke said “even though there’s an unemployment rate at 13 percent in the U.S., with some neighborhoods at 50 percent,” the Census Bureau has given the jobs of manufacturing the promotional apparel to foreign citizens – even as it tries to get the attention of all Americans to fill out Census forms.
