What? Because he hasn't sewn up the moonbat vote?

notevilWhat’s Al Gore’s carbon footprint for coming to Virginia to raise money for Creigh Deeds?

Gore coming to Va. for Deeds
The visit will provide positive publicity for Deeds in the days before the Nov. 3 election, when Deeds will face Bob McDonnell, the Republican nominee.

“Positive publicity?”  Is the Deeds campaign writing articles for Politico now?

Or, as Bearing Drift notes:  Gore, who’s Mr. Cap-and-Trade, will come to Virginia reminding all of us about the inconvenient truth of how many jobs will be lost and how much energy prices will sky-rocket if the National Energy Tax is actually passed.

Look, my view is that taking care of the environment is a conservative issue.  It’s the wise use of our natural resources.  But the fact is, Al Gore is a snake oil salesman.

Hundreds, if not thousands, of reputable scientists have refuted the claims made by Gore and others regarding “Global Warming” or “Climate Change.”  But you won’t hear that in the mainstream media.

That’s why you need to see:  Not Evil Just Wrong

And you’ll see why a British Court ruled that Al Gore’s Film, “An Incovenient Truth” could not be shown in British schools unless guidelines were given to balance Gore’s attempt at political indoctrination.  The ruling was based on The Nine Lies of Al Gore.

But with the White House all but ignoring the Deeds’ campaign, I guess they had to go with the B list.

Oh and by the way, Friday’s weather for McLean calls for rain and temperatures in the 40s.

Washington Times: Deeds dwindles

EDITORIAL: Deeds dwindles
The Democrat gets desperate in Virginia governor’s race

The Washington Times

Memo to Creigh Deeds – If an admirer compares you to a tested wartime president, that’s gratifying. When you compare yourself to Harry Truman, you look small and desperate.

Every editorial from Virginia newspapers pointing out campaign whoppers trims the Democratic gubernatorial candidate a little further. By the time Monday’s debate hit the airwaves, Mr. Deeds needed to sit on a phone book to look the moderator in the eye.

Deeds' Camp: Deck Chairs. Rearrange. You know the drill.

deckchairsSo says Lowell:

In other news; according to what Kyle’s hearing, almost all the negative stuff – TV/radio ads, call/walk scripts, and literature – is being pulled by the Deeds campaign (I’ll believe it when I see it). Supposedly, it’s being replaced by ads similar to what we saw at the end of the Democratic primary last spring, including ones that tell us who Creigh Deeds is (the slogan “letting Creigh be Creigh” reportedly is being bandied about). Let’s hope.

We’ll see.  Desperate times call for Desperate Deeds.

Debate coverage

I had another commitment and missed the McDonnell/Deeds debate.  But it was well covered by Bearing Drift.

Virginia League of Conservation Voters submits “citizen” question
Bearing Drift

I joked during the live-blog that this question – whether one believes in the science of global warming – was straight from the Sierra Club. I didn’t realized how right I was.

Judging from the live blog, and the chatter on Facebook and Twitter, Bob McDonnell was, once again, the clear winner.

Funniest post I’ve read in a long time.

Delegate Bill Janis Is looking forward to the McDonnell Deeds debate…..Rumor has it that Creigh is getting so desperate that he’s considering bringing Tim Kaine into Virginia to campaign for him….

Deeds Flips AGAIN on ABC Stores

October 2009

Deeds:  Well, the sale of liquor stores is something we ought to consider.  The sale of alcohol is not a core service of government.  Privatization is something we ought to take a look at.
Politics Program with Mark Plotkin, WTOP-AM

August 2009

“Deeds said McDonnell’s plan to privatize state-run ABC stores to generate revenue for transportation is not a viable option because proceeds from ABC sales are used to fund other programs.
“‘How would those funds be replaced?’ he asked.

The Martinsville Bulletin

July 2009

“The Deeds campaign said the Democrat is not necessarily opposed to privatizing ABC, saying it could be a piece of the puzzle to raise revenue.  “It’s an option that should be on the table,” Deeds campaign spokesman Jared Leopold said in the Washington Post.

McDonnell doubles lead. WaPo declares day of mourning.

McDonnell Widens Lead in Virginia Governor’s Race
The Washington Post

McDonnell leads 53 to 44 percent among likely voters, expanding on the four-point lead he held in mid-September. Deeds’s advantage with female voters has all but disappeared and McDonnell has grown his already wide margin among independents. Deeds, a state senator from western Virginia, is widely seen by voters as running a negative campaign, a finding that might indicate his aggressive efforts to exploit McDonnell’s 20-year-old graduate thesis are turning voters away.

Odd isn’t it, that the WaPo says Deeds was pushing the thesis.  Like they had nothing to do with it.

We like the way Politico puts it.

Republican sweep looking likely in Virginia

Among independent voters, McDonnell holds a whopping 21-point lead over Deeds, 59 to 38 percent. And a 51 percent majority of Virginia voters characterized McDonnell as “about right” ideologically

Commanding lead still for GOP ticket in WaPo poll
Bearing Drift

Every candidate for statewide office for the GOP remains plus 9 in the latest Washington Post poll. McDonnell is at 53%. This is an increase in five points for McDonnell since the last poll.

WaPo poll: So much for Deeds closing in
Virginia Virtucon

The internals for Deeds are, well, terrible.  His call for tax increases was opposed by 55% of the voters “and even in Northern Virginia a slim majority of voters oppose new taxes for transportation”

The one where we agree with Tim Kaine

7 Oct

Here’s Gov. Tim Kaine on Sheila C. Johnson openly mocking Democrat Creigh Deeds for his stammer:

“It was unfortunate,“ Kaine told reporters. “Sheila’s a friend and she apologized, and she said, “look I shouldn’t have done it.‘ And look, we all make mistakes.“

Kaine said he did not think the McDonnell campaign needed to apologize “for something a supporter says. Sheila did—I read the statement she made. it sounded like it was appropriately sincere,  so I think it’s passed.“

Barack Obama: This is not the Creigh Deeds I knew…

7 Oct

Seems The White House is throwing Creigh Deeds under the bus.

White House Steps Back in Virginia Race
The Wall Street Journal

WASHINGTON — The White House is stepping back from lending its heft to a bellwether gubernatorial race in Virginia, party strategists say, seeking to conserve its political capital and avoid close association with a candidate who might lose.

It’s pretty telling though that Barack Obama couldn’t see the futility of flying to Copenhagen on behalf of Chicago, but knows it’s a lost cause to drive across the Potomac for Creigh Deeds.

Is Deeds conceding a month early?

Deeds points finger at Washington

“Frankly, a lot of what’s going on in Washington has made it very tough…We had a very tough August because people were just uncomfortable with the spending; they were uncomfortable with a lot of what was going on, a lot of the noise that was coming out of Washington, D.C.”

Washington D.C., where Deeds’ party is in control.

When down in double digits, blame your staff…

Asked about a statement he made earlier this year in an interview with WJLA and POLITICO, in which he said he would like to face his Republican rival in a debate, Deeds faulted his campaign…“I don’t have anything to do with the schedule…”
